Peace, Love and Rolling Stock

We get glimpses of the reality of the state of world affairs from time to time. Living in the the city, and here in Colorado, often provides the curious with images that are unusual. This train, loaded with Bradley  Armored Personnel Carriers, (APC's), similar to those used in Iraq and Afghanistan, rolls slowly past, as Cian and I did one of our lunch-time rides today. Of course Cian couldn't resist the paradox...

Denver's Bikes of Many Colors

The resurgence of retro bikes has been fun to witness. These are bikes I grew up riding, but they're brand new, and made better, and lighter! This one looks like a bike taxi, pink rims and mini ape-hangars. I love it.

Red Rocks-A Fitness Mecca with Spectacular Views

Many people worldwide have heard of Red Rocks Theater near Morrison, Colorado, but few would know it is also a fitness Mecca to thousands on the weekends. Tom and I rode over to Red Rocks a few weekends ago, as part of a longer ride. We are both training for different bicycle tour events that will take place in the nearby Rocky Mountains. Tom is getting ready for the Triple Bypass, and I will be riding in the Courage Classic.

My Li'l Hog

If you're gonna run with the Li'l dogs, you gotta get your streamers and colors just right. Here's a shot I couldn't resist toward the end of a ride the other day. I was cruising somewhere up South Lamar street, off the Bear Valley Trail. The gentlemen were kind enough to allow me to snap a few shots of one of the bike's....My Li'l Hog! Hey, don't touch my bike!

A Hybrid, City Biker at Work

Meet Can Man.

I asked his name. He just said, I'm "Can Man". When I met Can Man, many ideas ran through my mind, and I instantly wanted to introduce him to velokos viewers. His "baby hauler" carry's his urban pay dirt....the ubiquitous, aluminum can...


"Can Man" on his hybrid TREK aluminum cargo bike, made of recycled soda cans.

I love his bike. An aluminum TREK, titanic BMX'er, complete with ape hangers, front suspension forks, disc brakes, and pegs for those long hauls to the recycling center. The "baby buggy" is a cargo trailer for his aluminum, cash crop. You just gotta love that! His Harley ...   read more...
