A Piece of Southern California History

The Mission Inn

While visiting my mom in Riverside, CA, I have been staying at the famous Mission Inn, in Riverside's lively downtown historic district. I grew up here, and found memories on almost every street corner.

The Rotunda

When I was a young boy of 8, my brother and friends used to prowl through the grounds of the old mission/hotel/flop house. We visited the catacombs below the floor, where the dungeons of old might begin. Years ago, we possessed this unrestrained freedom the kids don't easily acquire today. Hell, few adults do either. I am not making a value judgment here, merely stating the facts as I view them.
